*** PLEASE EXPAND SECTION FOR FULL DETAILS***
Thank you for volunteering to help with the Community Pantry Garden.
We have set up one slot each on Saturdays and Sundays for either an individual or small group (family or friends) working together. The time you come is flexible, but if you come during pantry hours (9 am to 1 pm), you can borrow basic gardening tools and, should there be produce ready to pick, you can do so and deliver it back to the pantry for refrigeration or distribution.
We ask that volunteers spend 15-45 minutes in the garden, helping with the following:
- Watering: A hose is attached to a spigot just outside the fence.
- Weeding: If you are not sure which plants are weeds, we recommend using the “Picture This” app, which will analyze a picture of a leaf or leaves and tell you what it is.
- Planting: We have room for some more vegetable or herb plants, as well as a section for strawberry vines that should yield fruit next year. If you have any healthy plants you would like to donate, please feel free to bring them and plant them.
Our first priority is filling the weekend slots, but volunteers are ALSO welcome to stop by and plant or weed any time on the weekends or ONLY AFTER 4:30 pm on weekdays, after our campers are gone for the day.
Please review the available slots below and click on the button to sign up. As always, we require that an individual, or at least one member of a volunteering group, be 18 or over and prepared to supervise any minors.
