Bay Area Outreach and Recreation Program
The purpose of this meditative movement class is to transition through a series of gentle, health-giving exercises in a relaxed and joyous environment. Tai Chi combines the fluidity of dance with energetic movements that tone and the body and Improve circulation, balance and posture. The mind is focused and results include an experience of a general sense of well being as the ”chi,” or life force, is strengthened. A sampling of Qigong and Rosen Method movement exercises are included. The course is open to all ages and varying abilities. Instructor Bio:
Hursey Baker has practiced martial arts for over 30 years. He has taught Tai Chi for 20 years, including 5 years at BORP (Bay Area Outreach & Recreation Program) and has taught karate for 27 years. He currently conducts martial arts and self defense classes at the College of Marin and teaches Tai Chi at BORP. Hursey spent four year in the Marine Corps and reached the rank of staff sergeant. He is passionate about helping others to move with ease and feel well-connected to their natural energy, balance, and posture.
