Housing Move Out
As students prepare to move out of the University Residence Halls, the UW-Madison Division of University Housing is asking for volunteers to help residents and their families say goodbye sustainably to items they no longer need.
There are 3 different volunteer positions for move out: Recycling Site Volunteer, Operations Rover and Rover Assistant.
- The primary role of Recycling Site Volunteers is to help residents sort their unwanted belongings into the correct donation/recycling/landfill areas. This keeps recycling and donation sites organized and helps to prevent reusable or recyclable material from entering the landfill. No prior knowledge of Housing locations is necessary for this role.
The Operations Rover is responsible for driving around to support all donation sites. This role transports larger donations (futons, rugs, microwaves) between sites as needed and communicates any challenges to the Sustainable Move Out Lead. To sign up for a Rover shift, you must have campus driver’s authorization and be familiar with all Housing locations.
Rover Assistants support the Operations Rover by riding along to all recycling and donation sites and moving larger donations (futons, rugs, microwaves). This role also helps to communicate any challenges at the donation sites. A familiarity with all Housing locations is preferred for this role
