We are back on Boston Common on Tuesdays!
Thank you for volunteering to make Brown Bag Lunches for our homeless clients. We are so grateful for your commitment of time and donated food.
Every Tuesday & Wednesday night, Generic Ministry volunteers will take these meals on our van and head into Boston. We'll hand-deliver them, along with clean, dry clothing and self-care items, to homeless people living on the streets.
We are hoping that you will commit to making 30 bagged meals for your slot.
You will need:
3-4 loaves of bread (please count the pieces in a loaf, as some loaves are smaller than others and it's not fun to get towards the end and be out of bread!)
Approx 2.5-3lbs pounds of lunch meat (2 slices per sandwich)
Approx 1.5-2lbs pounds of cheese (1-2 slice per sandwich)
A bottle of mustard/mayo, or small sachets to include in the bag
30 snacks (i.e. small bags of potato chips from Costco or granola bars)
30 pieces of soft fruit or squeezable apple sauce (please do not use hard fruit such as apples; bananas are ideal)
1 case of bottled water (PLEASE DO NOT PUT THE WATERS INTO THE BAGGED MEALS; SIMPLY DELIVER THE CASE OF WATER STILL IN ITS PACKAGING ALONGSIDE THE BAGGED MEALS)
30 brown lunch bags
30 sandwich baggies
Plastic gloves to wear when making sandwiches
If sandwiches are refrigerated, volunteers can make the sandwiches up to 24-36 hours prior to delivery.
Sandwiches can be delivered no later than 5:00 PM on the day you sign up for. Sandwiches should be delivered to the garage at 701 Webster St. Needham, MA, or you can arrange collection with Emma Navales. The garage at 701 Webster is a detached garage located on a volunteer's private property. Entrance to the garage is around the *LEFT* side through a side door. Please email [email protected] or text 617 888 0566 to arrange delivery or collection prior to Wednesday.
Thank you for all you do for Generic Ministry. Without volunteers like you, we would not be able to meet our mission every week.
