Boulder U-Fix-It Clinic
Welcome to the Boulder U-Fix-It Clinic at the Boulder Public Library.
BLDG 61 Makerspace [map], 1001 Arapahoe Avenue, Boulder, CO.
Something broken? Learn how to fix it from with help from our volunteer fixit coaches.
You can bring any appliance, lamp, toy, furniture, clothing/fabric item -- any sort of broken thing! We'll have a toolbox and supplies for each workstation, but you should also bring any parts or tools that might be helpful for the repair.
Please select one 1-hour time slot, enter your name, and use the comment entry to let us know the broken item you plan to bring.
For "Quantity", please only select "1."
Our clinic is quite popular and we expect it to be full. We ask that you limit yourself to one time slot to allow as many as possible to participate. If there are slots available on the day of the clinic, you may be able to stay for more than one hour.
And, due to our limited space, we ask that if you have participated in one of our clinics recently, please consider allowing some first-time fixers to sign up by waiting until 2 weeks before the clinic to register.
When you arrive at the event, we'll check you in, and pair you with one of our volunteer fix-it coaches. They will ask you three questions about your broken thing so you can explore a solution together:
- What was it like when it worked?
- What happened when it stopped working?
- What have you done since then?
Good candidates for Jewelry repair include items that have broken at or near the clasp and beaded jewelry that needs restringing. Other repair ideas can include items needing chain repairs or dangly earrings that need re-assembly. You can also learn techniques like how to lengthen a necklace/bracelet that is too short to wear.
No sign-up needed for jewelry - just walk in. And please bring in no more than three pieces to work on. (But, you do need to sign-up for any other type of repair item.)
The Boulder U-Fix-It Clinic is sponsored by Eco-Cycle, Boulder Library Foundation, and the
