Family Promise November 11-18, 2018

Happy Fall!

Thanks to everyone who signed up for the epic 2-week stay of Family Promise in August! We didn't know if we could pull it off, but we did -- stupendously. People signed up right away, and we were covered for every volunteer slot. Thank you!

We have great news about Sherri and her four sons. You may remember that she secured at job at the Marcus Autism Center at the end of her visit with us in August. We just got an update from the new executive director at Family Promise:

I wanted share that Sherri and her family transitioned to Homestretch yesterday! It was a very special moment for me because this was my first family to graduate into a transitional living program! Sherri and her family will learn so much and be able to stay for up to 2 years. The apartment was fully furnished by Homestretch volunteers and a kitchen full of food and necessities.

Jace and Kai were very excited about their new bunk beds and new toys to play with. Stoney and D were just as happy to have their own room and video game chairs. These volunteers went out of their way to ask for their specific interests. Sherri’s bedroom was beautifully decorated and serene. I found myself not being able to leave.

Sherri said to me as I was leaving, “Well, you did it. You got us in here.” I responded, ”No you did it, Sherri, you worked the program.”

Sherri did a great job, but she would not have been able to do it without all of our volunteers -- YOU!

Update on our upcoming visit. One family is currently scheduled for our week: Jarwanda and her three children, a son aged 15, and a daughter and son both aged 9 years. No one has any allergies or dietary restrictions.

Please see below the many ways that you can help -- by bringing and serving meals, spending the night, and other ways.

Don't hesitate to call one of the coordinators named below if you have any questions or suggestions.

Thank you for all that you do!
