St Mary Grinnell
The mission of Grinnell’s Take Away Hunger program is to reduce hunger around the world through local volunteers working together to package food. The food goes to needy countries, disaster areas in the United States, and somemes our own MICA in Grinnell. Packing dates this year will be: November 10th 2019 , February 9th, and April 19th, 2020 taking place at the Elk's Lodge 720 3rd Ave Grinnell, Iowa.
It costs $390 ($32.50/person) for a team of twelve to pack meals in a 45 minute time slot at an event.
St. Mary's Parish has reserved a 1:00-1:45 PM time slot each packing date. Please sign up below if you would like to be a part of the the St. Mary's team. Be sure to arrive about 10 min before 1:00 to get signed in. If you can pay the $32.50/per person please pay that to the parish office or put in the collection basket indicating your donation is for the St. Mary Take Away Hunger Team. You can write the check out to St. Mary's and put Take Away Hunger in the Memo OR cash works too. We pay for the team with one check from St. Mary. Since we have people donate that might not be able to pack on the team, please don't let the cost keep you from signing up.
In addition to the packing team we need volunteers to help unload the trailer and set up from noon until 1:30 pm. There would be no charge to work this shift. This would be great for any 6-66 and includes taping boxes and some lifting.
