Peirce PAC Parent Groups

Peirce PAC Parent Resource Groups/Grupos de recursos para padres de Peirce PAC

The Parent Advisory Council (PAC) is a federally funded parent program under Title I. PAC exists to provide a meaningful opportunity for parents and guardians to work with their school principal and staff in the planning, design, implementation, and evaluation of the Parent Involvement aspect of a school's CWIP (Continuous Work Improvement Plan). At Peirce the PAC primarily focuses on organizing workshops and activities for parents and discussing issues of importance to parents.

The most exciting opportunity for the 2018-2019 school year is the creation of Parent Resource Groups. These groups will allow parents the opportunity to participate in the discussions, planning, and dissemination of resources. Initially, we will have four groups:

  1. Race and Culture
  2. LGBTQIA
  3. Refugees/Immigrants
  4. Special Education/Diverse Learners

Each group will have 2 co-leaders to support communication within the group; and liaise with PAC to disseminate information about resources, workshop planning, and other varieties of outreach to parents. At present, there is no limit on how many parents can participate in the group. Each group will be tasked with researching and disseminating resources for parents and creating learning opportunities for parents (such as workshops and book clubs).

Groups will decide on their own meeting schedule or forms of communication within the group (email, in person, by phone, etc.), so that any parents who want to can be involved.
