Saint Robert Bellarmine Parish Community Outreach
It's soup truck season again at Lazarus House! St. Robert's will be providing soup and bag lunches once per month for January, February, and March.
Our January commitment is to provide soup and bagged lunches for Friday, January 10. ALL DONATIONS SHOULD BE DROPPED OFF BY THURSDAY EVENING, JANUARY 9.
What do we need for bag lunches for Thursday, January 9?
120 Sandwiches--turkey and cheese this month, no condiments
120 treats or chips--baked treats like cookies or brownies are delightful; just wrap them up as individual treats that can be dropped into a lunch bag; chips should be individual serving bags to drop into lunch bags
120 pieces of fruit or fruit cups--each lunch will include one of these
What do we need for soup for Thursday, January 9?
5 gallons of soup. We all work off of the same recipe so that we can combine smoothly. This month we are making Turkey Chili.
You can find the recipe here: https://www.saintroberts.net/documents/2019/1/turkey.chili.pdf Each batch is a little over a half gallon.
Please note: soup should be in containers that you do not need returned.
Where and when do you drop off donations?
Drop off donations at church by Thursday evening, January 9. Perishables should be left in the fridge in Driscoll Hall kitchen. Non-perishables may be left on top of the Neighbors in Need bin in the vestibule or dropped off in Driscoll Hall kitchen. We will pack up for delivery to Lazarus House on Thursday evening, January 9.
The church is open during weekdays beginning around 7:00 am. If you are looking for a time after work to drop off, there is evening Mass on Tuesday at 5:30 pm and Wednesday at 6:00 pm--come on in for Mass, too! Doors are locked after Mass and the daily Masses are about 30 minutes so plan accordingly! The choir rehearses on Thursday evening so the doors will be open then as well (and I'll be there on Thursday, too!).
Is the sign up full and you still want to contribute?
Bring it along! 120 lunches and 5 gallons of soup is our base line but going over means more warm, full bellies on cold, dark days. There can never be enough of that! :)
