Help St. John Presbyterian Church Alleviate Hunger.
On Friday, June 18, from 9:00 am - noon, we will help the members of St John PC unload and unpack pallets of food from a Forgotten Harvest truck and put it in the cars of hungry people. We know that hunger is a bigger problem in the City of Detroit this year due to the economics of Covid-19. We know that Forgotten Harvest knows how to run pop-up food delivery points and are delighted to partner with them. GPMC volunteers monthly under the auspices of our Everyone Eats group. E1E will also bring perishables.
All the work is outside unless you want to help bag up some "extra" donations in their large Fellowship Hall during the "prep time" from 9-9:30. There are outdoor prep projects, too, so choose your own comfort level. Once we open for business, all work is outside. If you have extra plastic grocery bags, bring them, they are useful. Wear masks, dress for the weather of the day, restrooms will be open at the church, bring your own water (and a snack if you need one). Plan to meet us at St. John's PC; parking is available on site, 1961 E. Lafayette.
