Hoe Down Volunteers 2020
Hello Hoe Down Volunteers,
It’s about that time of year...We are having the FAMOUS Hoe Down on Friday March 6.
For those of you that have not been to the Hoe Down before…get ready! It is a real blast and your kids will amaze you on how much they know about line dancing. They are even planning a parent participation dance :)
This is a FAMILY event! We want every student to bring their parents, siblings and even grandparents! You will notice kids will not be admitted without an adult but I really encourage you to come out as a family and meet your fellow community members!!
Since this is such a huge event we need lots of help!!!
Food Service This job starts at 6:00 and ends after most folks have eaten approx. 7:30. We serve baked potatoes, chili, salad, chips & cookies. You will be instructed what to do when you show up.
Door Check in This job starts at 5:45 and ends after the flood gates have been settled.
Ticket Sales during Lunch We sell tickets, bandanas, hats and raffle tickets during student lunches the week of the Hoe Down. Because of money handling, MUST BE A PTSA MEMBER.
Ticket Sales at the Door We always get a bit of a rush from the last-minute attendees! Because of money handling, MUST BE A PTSA MEMBER.
Concessions This is the place we sell Cowboy hats, Bandanas, candy and drinks etc...it gets very busy and we need 2 shifts 6:15 to 7:30 and 7:30 to 8:45. Because of money handling, MUST BE A PTSA MEMBER.
Door Security We need to keep track of our little cow pokes so we will have 4 shifts keeping an eye on the doors. This is a perfect place to get your husband or a friend to help you out.
Photo Booth This is a very busy station! We offer free pictures for all. We have the stage decorated with a western back drop and their picture comes in a great photo memory frame. We need 2 shifts here 6:15 to 7:30 and 7:20 to 8:30. 6-8 more people would be great.
Prizes We offer a few really cool prizes. The guests can buy raffle tickets to win and we have tons of gift cards for the students that we hand out throughout the night. Because of money handling, MUST BE A PTSA MEMBER.
Decorations We meet after school and start decorations to transform the commons and gym into a western theme. This is a good place for students looking for volunteer hours to score some hours! I need 8-10 people from about 3:00 to 5:00.
Watering Hole We have a water station by the dancing area that needs to be monitored.
Clean up This is pretty obvious...we need to get the place cleaned up so Mike our awesome custodian does not have to do it all! If we all do a little it will go fast.
If you would like to buy your tickets in advance you can go to the PLMS PTSA web site. BE SURE to read the directions on how to buy multiple tickets. Each person attending needs a ticket (kids under 5 free). No physical tickets will be given - just your student’s name on a list at the door. We will also be selling tickets at the student lunches the week before the Hoe Down. Go to pinelakeptsa.org for tickets.
The price of admission includes dinner, dancing, entertainment, a free photo of you and your friends and prizes! YEE-HAW!
Start thinking about your outfit for the night...Think western, denim or plaid shirts, jeans, cowboy hat, boots, bandana, chaps, cow costume anyone? just kidding,.. you get the idea! :)
Thank you all in advance!
Please feel free to reach out with any questions.
