Please join us for a unique opportunity to learn from Professor Matthew Palombo, PhD, and his colleagues about how we can each make a difference in the fight to combat racism.
We will begin the five-week process by learning about the history of whiteness and racism. The following four evenings will be a guided discussion of me and white supremacy: Combat Racism, Change the World, and Become a Good Ancestor by Layla Saad.
This event involves a commitment to read one chapter per day of Saad’s book over 28 days, and engage in daily reflection and prayer. The book is necessary to participate and must be purchased in advance. It is available in most bookstores and online. Reading the book beforehand is not necessary, as we will be working through the book as a group over the weeks.
When purchasing the book, please consider supporting Black Garnet Books, a black-owned Minneapolis bookstore. This is the link to order the book from Black Garnet Books online: https://www.blackgarnetbooks.com/product/me-and-white-supremacy-combat-racism-change-the-world-and-become-a-good-ancestor/37. If that link does not work, or you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to a member of the Racial Justice committee.
Aside from the cost of the book, this Combat Racism event is free for all participants. If the cost of the book prohibits you from participating, please get in touch with a member of the Racial Justice committee.
Sign up early to reserve your spot, as this event will be open to other churches in the area beginning late-August.
