Committee Chair

There are several open positions for committee chairs. Please sign up here if interested. You can note a specific committee in the comments if desired.

3rd Grade - Bike Rodeo

Coordinate the one-day after-school bike safety program in the fall for 3rd grade students. *COMMITTEE CHAIRS AND MEMBERS NEEDED.

5th Grade D.A.R.E. Luncheon

Work with Monroe staff and D.A.R.E. officer to organize the end-of-program luncheon.

5th Grade Holiday Sale Supporting Outdoor Ed Trip

Facilitate the sale of holiday and other items to help offset the costs of the Outdoor Ed trip for 5th grade students.

5th Grade Year End Culmination

Coordinate 5th grade year-end recognition ceremony and identify, plan and execute special events for the 5th grade students.

Assemblies

Plan 3-4 school-wide assemblies throughout the year. *CO-CHAIR NEEDED

Book Fairs

Assist Meredith Wodka with set-up and work a shift(s) during open hours of the Book Fair. *VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Brick Pavers

Coordinates the sale and installation of engraved bricks.

Chess Club

Act as a liaison between Chess Club vendor and parents of Chess Club members. *COMMITTEE CHAIR & MEMBERS NEEDED

Community Partners (3)

Coordinate give-back days throughout the year with local stores and restaurants.

Culture Night

Help coordinate a multi-cultural evening event that allows students to share and experience different cultures. *COMMITTEE MEMBERS NEEDED

D181 Liaison

Share the discussions from D181 Academic Success and School Board Meetings with the PTO to help keep Monroe parents informed.

Directory and Handbook (3)

Prepare and distribute the annual Directory and Handbook; compile the information for our online directory app. *CO-CHAIR AND COMMITTEE MEMBERS NEEDED

Family Fun Fest

Coordinate the annual year-end family celebration at Monroe. *COMMITTEE MEMBERS NEEDED

Grounds

Works as a liaison with the district and landscape vendor to maintain the school grounds.

Hospitality

Provide food and cheer for three PTO meetings and occasional special parent/student/school events. *COMMITTEE MEMBERS NEEDED

Junior Great Books

Facilitate discussions, from the Junior Great Books anthology with interested students once a week, during lunchtime, for 11 weeks. *COMMITTEE MEMBERS NEEDED

Kindergarten Holiday Tree

Plan an ornament making activity for the kindergarten classes and decorate the annual holiday tree displayed in the school foyer. *COMMITTEE CHAIR NEEDED

Living Classroom

Support the teachers when they teach the Living Classroom Science Curriculum. *COMMITTEE MEMBERS NEEDED

Locker Photos

Take pictures of students and hang them on their lockers during first week of school. *COMMITTEE CHAIR AND MEMBERS NEEDED

Mighty Writers Club

Assist & encourage students as they take on writing challenges at Mighty Writers Club sessions held weekly before school in the fall and spring. *VOLUNTEERS NEEDED.

Monroe Cafe Volunteers

Help set up, serve food and clean up during special catered pizza and/or Jimmy John's lunches. *DAY OF VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Monroe Cafe - Jimmy John's Chair

This Monroe Cafe co-chair will coordinate volunteers, place orders and be available to run monthly Jimmy John's lunches.

Monroe Cares

Plan event(s) throughout the year to engage Monroe students in volunteering efforts that help others in and outside our community. *COMMITTEE MEMBERS NEEDED

MRC Enrichment

Work closely with Mrs. Wodka to support and enrich the MRC environment and mission, including seasonal displays and special event or school initiative support. *COMMITTEE CHAIRS AND MEMBERS NEEDED

Newcomers

Serve as a welcoming resource to new Monroe families. *COMMITTEE MEMBERS NEEDED

Newsbytes (3)

Responsible for Monroe's electronic communication via weekly "Newsbytes". *ONE ADDITIONAL COMMITTEE MEMBER NEEDED.

Orange Ruler Student Fun Run

Day-of volunteers needed to assist with Orange Ruler Student Fun Run (new event!) on October 23rd.

Pinch Hitters

Day-of-help for activities when extra hands are needed. Perfect for flexible schedules! *COMMITTEE MEMBERS NEEDED

PTO Grants

Evaluate Monroe's teacher and staff grant requests and make recommendations to the Exec Board. *COMMITTEE MEMBERS NEEDED

Public Relations

Work with local newspapers and D181 Community Relations staff to promote and publicize Monroe activities and events.

Room Parents

Help your child's classroom teacher by finding parent volunteers, organizing teacher gifts and performing other classroom duties throughout the year. Please list your child's name and grade you would like to volunteer for. *COMMITTEE MEMBERS NEEDED

School Fundraiser/Auction

Join the fundraising team to assist with planning & executing the 2021 Monroe School Fundraiser. Sign up to help in any capacity that works for you!

School Photos

Assist with school picture day(s). *DAY-OF-VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Science Fair

Coordinate all aspects of the annual Science Fair, including boards, display and finding judges. *CO-CHAIR AND COMMITTEE MEMBERS NEEDED

Spirit Wear

Select Monroe School's spirit wear and coordinate the online and offline sale of items. *CO-CHAIR AND COMMITTEE MEMBERS NEEDED

Staff Appreciation

Organize thank-you lunches & special events throughout the year, culminating in a week-long celebration in early May. *COMMITTEE MEMBERS NEEDED

Student Activities

Oversee all PTO-sponsored student clubs by selecting and coordinating enrichment opportunities and clubs for students after school and during lunch. *COMMITTEE CHAIR & MEMBERS NEEDED

Vision and Hearing Screening

Assists school nurse with vision and hearing screening. *COMMITTEE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Wrapping Paper

Organize and execute fall wrapping paper fundraiser with Charleston Wrap. *COMMITTEE CHAIR ONLY. NO VOLUNTEERS NEEDED.
