We need 2 nursing students to volunteer at San Francisco Christian Center, 5845 Mission Street, San Francisco from 12 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. for Blood pressure screening and health care consultation. It's about 10 minutes from SFSU. This is a group of 20 - 25 African American Seniors who are in need of resources and information about good health care practices, nutrition and overall well being. This is a new volunteer event and we plan to have it every Wednesday this Fall Semester. Future dates are TBA.
If any of the students would like to do a formal presentation on a health related topic, that could be arranged.
This is open to all levels of nursing students. Level 1s can sign up now for this event. Since it will only be BP screenings, 2 level 1 students can volunteer together. You do not have to commit to coming every week. Different students can volunteer each week.
Please bring YOUR OWN BLOOD PRESSURE CUFF AND STETHOSCOPE. This is great opportunity to interact with clients and practice taking manual blood pressures.
