Northbrook United Methodist Church & Community

MLK Service Day Jan. 20, 2020

Northbrook United Methodist Church will be hosting a service day on Monday, January 20, 2020 in honor of Martin Luther King Jr.  Anyone in the community is welcomed to join us!  We'll be gathering for a short worship service at 8 AM at NUMC at 1190 Western Avenue in Northbrook.  Participants can choose from a variety of projects at the church or out in the Chicago land area. We'll have 7 family-friendly projects at NUMC from 8:30-10:30 AM including things such as making Linus Blankets, gift baskets for a shelter for abused women, dog biscuits for Orphans of the Storm, military bracelets, a banner art project, placemats for Meals on Wheels, etc.  Projects out in the community include things such as packing books at Bernie's Book Bank (1-3 PM) and Bookfriends in Wauconda (9:30 AM to 2 PM), cooking and serving for the homeless at The Boulevard in Humboldt Park (8:30 AM to 2 PM), packing food at Feed My Starving Children in Schaumburg (9:30-11:30 AM) and making lunches for The Night Ministry (Cub Scout project).  Hope you will consider joining us and making it a "day on, versus a day off"!
