Wake - Heritage 2020

What:         NC Science Olympiad Division A (Elementary) Tournament

Event Volunteers:

  • Event Leaders will run each event - this includes set up, clean up, running the exam and grading/ranking final scores as well as directing your cadre of volunteers.  The tournament director, Amber Garcowski, will reach out to you before the tournament to answer questions and provide training.  Amber will also be on-site the day of the tournament.
  • Event Volunteers will assist the Event Leaders with exam set up, proctoring the exam, grading the exams, reporting scores to the scoring room and cleaning up the exam rooms.  No specific scientific knowledge is needed to help in this capacity. 
  • Setup, Cleanup, Scoring Room, Awards Assembly, Photography, and Teen Runner Volunteers are also needed.  Teen Runners will be responsible for filling in the gaps where needed the day of, and are welcome for any portion of the day.

Lunch and breakfast goodies will be provided for all of our volunteers.

Thank you so much for volunteering your time and effort!  We couldn't put on these tournaments without volunteers like you :)

Set up, proctor, & grade a forensics lab event. Safety requirement: must wear closed toed shoes and have long hair pulled back. Goggles will be provided

Take pictures of students and events throughout day. Quickly sort, upload, and share them with tournament director after last event.

Assist event leaders with grading as needed, check and enter scores throughout the day.

1:00pm - 3:00pm  

Awards Ceremony (2)

Set up and check AV equipment. Unwrap and arrange trophies and medals for display. Hand out medals to student winners.


Clean up (3)

Help pack up and load supplies, and make sure rooms are returned to their original state.
