Hi ORRA Members,
I hope everyone had a Happy New Year!
The Spring Rowing Season is coming quickly, which means our request for volunteers for each regatta is right around the corner!
As you all have seen in our weekly newsletter, we have a busy regatta season this year and we rely heavily on our ORRA members to volunteer during these weekends, and the main reason why we have a 32 hour volunteer requirement for a membership option!
In order to better prepare our members for what to expect during a regatta day, we are hosting a “Volunteer Training Day” to learn the ins and outs of each specific station during a regatta and how you can help, along with finding out which volunteer area best suits you!
Our Volunteer Training Day will take place on February 23rd, 2019 from 8am-10:30am. We strongly encourage all new members, novice parents and varsity parents to come join us during the training.
The day will start with a quick introduction explaining our upcoming regatta schedule and what to generally expect on regatta day and then after we will break into groups, rotating around our venue to learn the ins and outs of control commission, start line, and finish line volunteering! If you are interested in learning how to drive a launch, we will also have an opportunity to learn that!
All of our regattas take passionate volunteers to keep the day going smoothly and we truly could not do it without you all! Our volunteer training day will continue to keep our ORRA members as “venue professionals” and be able to welcome all visitors to our area to the best of their ability!
Thanks so much and we look forward to teaching you about our regatta volunteer opportunities in a relaxed, but realistic environment! If you have any questions at all, feel free to email me at [email protected]
Sign up HERE for Volunteer Training Day! ALL ATTENDEES WILL RECEIVE VOLUNTEER HOURS FOR PARTICIPATING.
