Intro To K9 Nosework
What is K9 Nosework
What is K9 Nosework?
It’s a fun game to bond with your dog! Socialization is important for humans and dogs alike. Owners with reactive dogs often have trouble finding safe, mutually enjoyable activities to participate in. Sound familiar? If so, you can enjoy a fun, team-building experience with your dog that will work its body and mind, while providing purpose, all in the safety of your home or Dr. Pike’s office.
K9 Nosework was brought to shelter dogs after observing professional military dog relax after given the opportunity to use their instincts. Many shelter dogs were shut down, unconfident, no longer trusted or were just scared, which can sometimes manifest as aggression or assumed aggression and they needed some enrichment to improve their quality of life. Canine Copilots LLC will gently teach your dog to use its nose! And K9 Nosework will teach you to trust your dog.
Does my dog need really good obedience or recall skills?
No, Canine Copilots like “bad dogs.” The goal is to learn how your dog solves problems.
My dog is fearful--can he/she do this?
Of course! Canine Copilots meets your dog in her safe spot and work together.
My dog has bitten a person/dog in the past. Can he/she do this?
Yes, but let us know so we can ensure a safe working distance between the Certified Nosework Instructor and the dog.
