We will need chaperones for Band Camp, which will take place the week before school starts. We also need someone to drive the equipment truck up and back. If you have not already been approved as an overnight chaperone for field trips by SUSD, you will need to go through that process prior to the end of the school year. If you are already approved as an overnight chaperone, please note that you must renew this every 3 years. SUSD chaperone information and application links are here: SUSD Chaperone Information
1. When and where is Band Camp?
Band Camp will be held Mon, July 29th through Fri, Aug 2nd at Camp Shadow Pines in Heber, AZ. See Link
2. What do I do at Band Camp?
There are a wide variety of activities. The band students are kept very busy throughout the day and evening. During the day, the chaperones attend meals, distribute snacks, fill/refill water jugs on the field, assist Janine with preparing evening activities for students, and assist Mrs. Irvin as needed. Many chaperones like to hike and explore the area during the daytime hours when they are not needed. You will be assigned to sleep in the Girls Dorm (Females) or Boys Dorm (Males). You will perform a headcount at Lights-out to assure everyone is accounted for, shut up the dorm, and ensure that the students remain in their assigned areas for the night. It's a lot of fun and a great way to meet many of your student's friends and watch them do something they love to do!
3. What is the cost to Chaperone Band Camp?
There is no cost for Band Camp Chaperones. You can ride the bus with the kids or may arrange with Mrs. Irvin to drive your own car to camp.
