Jubilee Breakfast Ministry
Please Stop and read this COVID-19 update first:
We have adapted our Jubilee Breakfast to a "grab-and-go" service. We are following CDC guidelines to protect the health of our community. Therefore the building is closed to guests. Only volunteers will be permitted in the building. We have plenty of space in the kitchen and prep area so volunteers can maintain social distances. Our staff coordinator, Craig Smith, gives the bagged breakfasts and beverages to people at the back door (Maple Street). If you have questions, please contact him (908-397-6460).
We ask that volunteers:
- Stay home if you feel unwell.
- Please feel free to update or change your volunteer slot through the Sign-up Genius page, we will reach out to you to confirm your change.
Upon arriving at the kitchen volunteers will be asked to:
- Thoroughly wash hands and use gloves at all times.
- If you don’t have an apron or a hat one will be provided.
Please scroll down the page to learn more about the Jubilee Breakfast Ministry and select a time to volunteer! NOTE: Volunteers must be 18 or older!
We provide hot breakfast and warm hospitality to the community on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 7:00 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. to those who are homeless and to the working poor. Most come directly from Allentown's overnight warming shelter. They receive a meal and have a warm place to stay before going to their workplace, or until county agencies and drop-in centers open at 9 a.m.
Volunteer Opportunities: On Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays we need ten volunteers to prepare and serve breakfast from 6:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. Please note: volunteers for serving breakfast must be at least 18 years of age.
If you are interesting in bringing a team from your faith community or workplace, please contact our volunteer coordinator: Nancy Dougherty (610-760-8361) or via email: [email protected]

Please note that the Allentown Health Bureau does not allow us to accept anything made in someone's kitchen at home (including baked goods).
Why Jubilee? This ministry to, with and for those who are homeless is taking place just a few feet from where the Liberty Bell was hidden in our church during the Revolutionary War. The well-known inscription on the bell ("Proclaim Liberty throughout all the land, unto all the inhabitants thereof") from Leviticus 25 proclaims the Jubilee year in which the scales of economic justice are balanced for all people. We pray for that day to come. In the meantime, we work as advocates for those who are in need. And we offer the most basic ministry that Jesus taught us to provide: food for the hungry, shelter for the homeless (Matthew 25).
