FHS Band Boosters

Band Booster Teams 2020-21

The Nominating Team is working on new ways to run the Booster Board to lighten the workload and increase continuity year to year.  We will be moving to a team-based approach for many of the Band Booster Board activities and responsibilities. Each team will be self-organizing and include a point person to help coordinate team activities. As in the past, teams will still have access to additional parent volunteers to help run specific events (such as drivers for Tag Day) to help further share the workload.

Ideally, the teams will be a mix of upper and lower classmen parents, and parents would commit to a team for 2 years. That way, veterans can show new team members the ropes from year to year. Of course, this is negotiable - we will take whatever time you are willing to give!

PLEASE sign up for a team!!  The band program can’t move forward without you.  Please do your part!

Operations Team (10)

Time commitment: Varies 3 hrs/mo to 10 hrs/wk during MB season. Team works closely with the director, students and other parents to keep the many mechanics of the marching band running smoothly.

Fundraising Team (5)

Time commitment: Varies throughout the year from 1-5 hours per week. This group works with the Booster Board, other parents and students to raise funds for such things as new instruments, special trips, and a new truck.

Fundraising: Tag Day (a Saturday in early September) (2)

Review existing procedures. Organize routes and drivers. Train students and parents. Update tags. Reconcile money donations. Get restaurant support.

Fundraising: Car Washes (a Saturday in August and April) (2)

Coordinate with director, FHS, drum majors and car wash locations. Review existing procedures. Set-up/clean-up. Training. Replenish existing supplies. Collect donations throughout the events

Fundraising: Winter Fruit Sale (February and March) (2)

Coordinate with Band boosters, director and fruit vendor. Promote sale to the parents and students. Training for in-person and on-line sales. Tracking the sales. Distribution of products.


Pre-season Band Camp Team (2)

Time commitment: In the spring, a few hours of planning, 5 hours per week during band camp This team will work closely with the band director and FHS coordinating activities and food during the 3 weeks of band camp before school starts.

Competition Team (4)

Time commitment: Only during the marching band season. It varies from a few hours in Aug and Sept to 10-15 hours per week before a competition. You’ll work closely with the band director, the competition sites and other parents.


Football Game Team (4)

Time commitment: 4 hrs on various Friday nights of football games. The band needs support during football games, including: PoC for volunteers during games; Set-up/clean-up; Supporting students during games; Running the 50/50 raffle during home games.

Communications Team (5)

Time commitment: Varies. Webmaster, 1-5 hrs/mo; newsletter, 2 hrs/wk fall, 2 hrs/mo rest of year; registration, 5-10 hrs/mo late spring-summer only. The team works with the President and Director to coordinate band communications to students and parents.

Hospitality Team (6)

Time commitment: 5-10 hrs per event; 4-5 hrs during actual event. Hospitality team members typically plan and carry out 4-6 events each year, most of which occur in the fall (additional volunteers will be available to help with each event).

Spirit Wear Team (4)

Time commitment: 10-20 hrs/summer; 2-3 hrs/event; 1-2 hours/month once school starts.Spirit wear coordinators are primarily responsible for: Reviewing current spirit wear inventory and planning sales (setting prices, etc.) for the upcoming year.

Uniform Team (5)

Time commitment: Varies widely depending on event and season. More hours are required in the fall to get prepared for and support the Marching Band from late July-November. Concert Band season runs from October-May.

Volunteer Sign-up Genius (SUG) Team (2)

Time commitment: Varies; 2-3 hrs/wk summer and MB season; lighter rest of school year. The volunteer team creates new and updates existing SUG’s needed by the other Booster Board teams to staff their events. You will work closely with the Booster Board.
