The PTO Needs Your Help in 2018-2019

It's that time of year again - time for the PTO to start recruiting volunteers for the coming year. Please see the list of positions and let us know if you are interested in volunteering for one or more of them. Even if someone has already volunteered for a position, feel free to volunteer for it as well- some positions require more than one volunteer. For more information on any specific position, please look at the PTO website or contact Melissa Irvin or Laura Casey, PTO Co-Presidents.

Co-President [PTO Board] (2)

Presides over meetings of the PTO and Board, serves as the primary contact for the principal, represents the PTO at meetings outside of the organization, serves as an ex officio member of committees, and coordinates the work of officers and committees.

Vice-President [PTO Board]

Assists the president and carries out the president's duties in his or her absence or inability to serve.

Treasurer [PTO Board]

Receives all funds of the PTO, keeps an accurate record of receipts and expenditures, pays out funds in accordance with the by-laws, creates and presents the budget.

Shikha Mehta

Secretary [PTO Board]

Keeps all records of the PTO, transcribes meeting minutes, handles correspondence, and maintains a list of PTO events planned.

Jenn Iocco

Communications [PTO Board]

Maintains the PTO website, maintains other PTO social media accounts, and distributes the weekly newsletter.

Courtney Driscoll

Enrichment [PTO Board]

New PTO Board position. Work with the Principal and staff in planning and implementing curriculum Enrichment programs at Sanborn. Manages the budget and the grade volunteers and informs the Sanborn community regarding future and/or past events.

Krista Newman

Andover Coalition for Education (ACE)

Liaison attends ACE board meetings and assists with the communication of the ACE mission, funding priorities and other initiatives within our school.


Art Coordinator

Coordinates art room volunteers for the school year. Works with Sanborn Art Teacher as needed to help with smooth operation of the art room.


Book Fair Chairs (2)

Chairs will recruit committee members, supervise and advertise the annual book sale held in November this year.

Family Directory Fundraiser

Obtain contact information from all Sanborn families wishing to be listed in the directory, organize parent and other relevant information for the directory, coordinate printing and distribution of directory to all Sanborn families.

Work with the Principal to generate ideas for family activities; organize & implement activities for Kindergarten Playground Meet-up (August) and New Family Orientation (August)

Garden Chairs (2)

Help keep our campus looking its best! This committee organizes a Saturday or Sunday in late fall and early spring to rake leaves, spread mulch, and plant. Bring the kids and dig in!

Finds appropriate grants and assists the faculty in applying for grants from local organizations


Harvest Festival Assembly Chair

Works with Principal to secure a speaker and invitee list for HF Assembly and secures volunteers and HF Assembly volunteers

Harvest Festival Gift Chair

Coordinates grades to create gifts and families to donate items for the gift bags; and coordinates 5th grade parents and students to deliver gift bags to Andover Seniors the Friday before Thanksgiving. Manages PR and newspaper coverage.

Heritage Night (2)

Lead Sanborn in a celebration showcasing our multicultural community. Gets volunteers for country exhibits, performances and is the on-site coordinator during the event. Manages decorations, and organizes activities: raffle prizes, face painting, etc.

Spooky Fun Fair Chairs (2)

Recruit sub-chairs and coordinate support leading up to event as needed. Collect candy and purchase prizes and other supplies. Manage the overall event, including decorations, set-up and break-down.
