The 2022 San Diego County High School Mock Trial Competition promises to be the largest to date and we need your help!
The 16th Annual San Diego County High School Mock Trial Competition is scheduled for February 26th and March 1st, 3rd and 7th. We are planning for an in-person competition to be held at the San Diego Superior Court's Central Division located in downtown San Diego with the understanding that the competition could be held virtually if circumstances were to change.
Courtroom Monitors perform a critical role during the competition. They make sure everything relating to the trials and the competition run smoothly. The time commitment is approximately three hours per trial in addition to the time necessary to review the competition materials prior to the competition. There is no limit to the number of rounds you can volunteer for.
Please review the case brief attached below. Additional information about the duties of a courtroom monitor will be sent out prior to the start of the competition. For the monitors' convenience, we will be conducting a mandatory orientation via Zoom. Dates and times will be announced via email and on the San Diego mock trial website at sdmocktrial.org in the future. If you have any questions or would like additional information, please contact the San Diego County High School Mock Trial Committee at [email protected]
We are implementing COVID safety protocols to include limiting attendance to just the coaches, teachers and students who are presenting. This will assist in social distancing in addition to requiring participants to wear masks. In this controlled environment, we will have even better protections than are currently in place in most of our courtrooms.
