Please consider helping. Here is what we need to be successful and have a lot of fun!
Adult/parent helpers: Each event has an agenda sheet that you will be given at the beginning of the night and instruction. Feel free to engage with the kids and get to know them. Our goal is to love them like Jesus, remind them of God’s role in their lives, keep them safe and have fun. Sometimes we play the games with them and sometimes we watch and encourage them. Sometimes we correct behavior and help them be healthy Christian community.
Dinner: On certain night we have dinner together and rely on volunteers and parent to prepare dinner for the group. There are usually about 20 people, although it could range between 15 and 30. Please bring food, including a vegetarian option, and everything except plates, bowls, utensils, napkins, and cups (all that is at the church already). We finish eating at 6:30p. At that point, you could pack up and just leave the kitchen in the condition it was in when you arrived.
Driver/Adult Helpers: We have some events that require the youth to be transported to and from the church. Sometimes we drive some place like the corn maze in a couple of weeks or skiing in the winter. Other times we are playing a game at the church that needs drivers like the GPS Scavenger Hunt. The only requirement to be a driver is that the church needs you to fill-out a brief volunteer helper form and photocopy your driver’s license, registration, and insurance. These items are stored privately in a secure lock-box. At the end of the year the copies are shredded or given to you.
Other Events that need your participation:
There are some events on the calendar that over night events. I have broken them down into shifts. If you are game for staying all night sign-up for multiple shifts. One adult per shift will need to lead the teens through the pre-planned activities.
Each month will have a mission focus. Please take part and talk to your teen about giving back and why that is important. The message we will be giving them is: (1) It doesn’t matter how much you have, you can always give back. (2) Giving back builds you up and builds up others. (3) Giving back makes the world a better place. (4) You can give back in many ways - time, resources, love.
Be invitational and invite friends and family to participate in Youth Group, but also as volunteers.
