Dinners for Eight

“And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.” Acts 2:26-47

“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.” Hebrews 10: 24-25

Dinners for Eight will give you the opportunity to enjoy food and fellowship with people you may or may not know very well. We already have host homes, so you are just signing up to be a guest! Review the following questions regarding Dinners for Eight, and if you have further questions please contact Lindsey Beckman at [email protected]

How does Dinners for Eight work?

You will sign up as either a single or couple and be assigned to a home. Each home will have, at most, eight adults that have been randomly selected to share dinner together.

How is food provided?

The host will provide the main dish and the guests will have the opportunity to bring a side or dessert. Once the groups are formed, the host will contact their guests and inform them of the main dish being prepared so the guests can plan accordingly. Don’t feel like you have to be gourmet - even a bagged salad or a store-bought cake counts as a side! This isn’t really about dinner or food, it’s about spending time together and having fun!

Is there childcare?

For the first time doing this event, we are going to ask that parents get a babysitter. If you have special circumstances or needs, we are definitely willing to work with you! Multiple host families have children, so don’t let childcare (or lack thereof) count you out!

Is this a Bible study?

Dinners for Eight is a time for fellowship, so it is not a Bible study. If you end up discussing a recent sermon, that’s great, but there is no preparation or any expectations.

How to sign up:

Either through SignUpGenius or we will also have a written sign up available at church in the foyer. All we ask is that people sign up by September 15th so we have enough time to coordinate each group, and the host has time to contact each group.

**Please note if you are willing to drive greater than 15 miles to a host home.**
