Science Club meets twice a month, generally on the fourth Wednesday for students in grades 2-5, and two days later on Friday for kindergartners and first graders. The split schedule (new this year) provides children in all grades a chance to do exciting hands-on science projects, with a little differentiation for age-appropriate learning experiences.
Families are required to fill out one permission slip (covers any Science Club sessions during the academic year), and to sign students up on this site each month so there is a roster (new policy beginning January 2019). Spaces for student registration will open the week prior to Science Club each month. Each sign-up closes approximately 24 hours before the session so the front office can notify teachers which students are attending Science Club the next day.
Volunteers can suggest activities they are interested in leading, or volunteer as an assistant for one or more sessions. Science Club meets from 3:40-5:00pm (if you are leading the session, please arrive early to set up). Meetings are in room 105 (directly behind cafeteria) for both the grades 2-5 session and the K-1 group.
If you sign up to lead a session, please consider covering both sessions that month with the same topic, though this isn't a requirement. Possibilities include biology (nature walks, animals, pond water microscopy), physics (rockets, optics, magnets), engineering (taking things apart, building machines), and more!
