Canvassing: Win Wisconsin 2020

Join Indivisible Evanston as we canvass in SE WI with the WI Democratic Party. Canvassing is the most effective tool we can use to GOTV!

NEVER CANVASSED? No problem! We will train you, provide scripts and place you with an experienced canvasser. Knocking on doors with a partner is always an option.

DON'T WANT TO DRIVE? No need! Sign up below with our carpools leaving from Evanston.

DATE/LOCATION:

2/8: Racine County Dems Office, 507 6th Street, Racine, WI

3/21 & 3/28: TBD by WI Dems based on highest need

4/4: TBD by WI Dems based on highest need

WHY WISCONSIN?

President Obama won Wisconsin in 2008 and 2012. In 2016, Trump won Wisconsin by less than 23K votes. All predictive lists concur that Wisconsin, with just 10 electoral votes, could easily be the state that determines the 2020 presidential winner; our boots on the ground are needed to flip it!

WHAT WILL WE BE DOING?

We'll be working with the Wisconsin Dems, knocking on doors of primarily likely Dems:

  • About their plan to vote for Presidential primary, State Supreme Court & local elections on April 7th
  • Emphasizing the need to vote for ALL races on the ballot
  • Support for elected officials
  • Party identification
  • Voter registration status

CHOOSE TO CARPOOL WITH US FROM EVANSTON OR DRIVE DIRECTLY - see sign-up below!

  • CARPOOL

2/8: Carpool from the Democratic Party of Evanston (DPOE) office (1806 Church Street, Evanston) to Racine County Dems Office (507 6th Street, Racine).

  • 8:30am: Meet at DPOE and leave promptly by 8:45am.
  • 10 - 1pm: Training/Canvass in Racine from 10am to 1:00pm.
  • 2:30pm: Return to DPOE

CARPOOL DRIVERS ALWAYS NEEDED: We have many Indivisible Evanston members who want to canvass but do not have access to a car; please volunteer as a driver in our carpool if you can!

  • DRIVE DIRECTLY

2/8: Drive directly to Racine County Dems Office (507 6th Street, Racine) for 10am training/canvass until 1pm. Please tell us how many passengers you are bringing so WI Dems can be prepared.

Does 3/1 work for you? Nancy Bruski, Indivisible Evanston member is leading Voter ID/Registration canvasses. For details, email [email protected]

Is carpooling from Chicago better for you or would you like to canvass in Michigan? Check out this link and carpool with our friends at Indivisible Chicago. And for all you Marie Newman fans - Please sign up to canvass so we can remove DINO Lipinski in IL-3.

CANVASSING TOOLS -  Packets & MiniVAN:

There are two tools to choose from for canvassing (YOU decide which option is right for YOU)

  1. Hard Copy packets with voter lists to collect information
  2. MiniVAN is an app for mobile canvassing with voter lists that saves campaign staff time assembling turf packets and entering data. If you have not used MiniVAN before and have not downloaded it to your phone:
    • Read the attached MiniVAN guide
    • Download the app to your phone. The app is called MiniVAN Touch in the Apple app store and MiniVAN on android phones. At this point, you only need to download the app and create an account (step # 1). We will receive our list number (step #2) and further training in WI.

CANVASSING PREP:

  • Script will be sent to those who sign up and an information sheet on the area we are canvassing.
  • Download the attached MiniVAN guide and the app if you'd like to try it.
  • Key points: dress comfortably (avoid political/partisan clothing); casual/weather appropriate, bring a pen, charged phone & water/snacks/lunch.
