Immigrant Church Lutheran Church of the Master
Please help support the children of Immigrant LCM by providing a meal, serving, and cleaning up. We eat around 1-1:15pm or as children arrive. Please provide food for around fifteen children maximum. This fluctuates greatly but we can eat family style if we need to and cut portions in half.
You may ask what food shall I bring? These children are true Americans and eat "American food", whatever that is! So if your kids would eat it, they will eat it. There will always be one person who doesn't like a food no matter what we bring. No worries. That's how kids are! Unless you really like making dessert, please skip it. We generally eat the cookies from the morning church.
Approximately once a month, the Immigrant LCM has a Unity service joining all other South Sudanese churches in a host church in Omaha. On these occassions, no meal would be required. The exception will be when the Unity service is hosted by LCM. In this case, there will be around thirty children to provide for. I will update this calendar as i get information. If you have chosen a week when LCM is hosting the Unity service or no meal is required, i will contact you with that change. In the true African way, events are not planned far in advance!
Please observe the worship as you are there. They love visitors! It is acceptable to walk in and out of service so don't be afraid to step into the Fellowship Hall and take in another culture worshipping the same God! if you listen closely, you may recognize the tune to a favored old hymn just sung to an African drum beat. How amazing is our God that worship is not defined by culture!
Thank you for your support!
