Shepherd of the Valley Food Shelf
SOTV partners with 360 Communities in operating our food shelf to benefit members of our community. Shepherd of the Valley Food Shelf is housed at the Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church campus located on Johnny Cake Ridge Road in Apple Valley near the Minnesota Zoo. Thank you for helping us provide life-sustaining food to those in need!
Volunteer help schedules and duties:
Shepherd of the Valley Food Shelf is open Tuesday and Thursday afternoons to our clients from 12:00 pm-6:00 pm. We need volunteers to work one of two shifts on those days.
Tues/Thurs 9:00 am-2:00 pm - From 9:00 am-12:00 pm the volunteers weigh, sort and shelve all rescue and donated food, preparing for the clients. Then from 12:00 pm-2:00 pm the volunteers work one-on-one with the clients and their food selections, weigh the outgoing food and help them to their vehicles. Restocking shelves as needed. Volunteers on this shift must be able to lift 40 lbs.
Tues/Thurs 2:00-6:00 pm - Continue to work one-on-one with the clients as they arrive for their designated appointments. Volunteers help them with their meat and fresh produce selections, weigh the outgoing food and help them to their vehicles. Restocking shelves as needed.
If you are new to the food shelf and want to volunteer, please contact Judy Hartfiel to set up a time to meet and complete paperwork. [email protected] or 612-799-5468. Thanks!
