Kindergarten Registration Week 2017
In our ongoing effort to ensure that children in Durham County are prepared for success in school, Durham Public Schools and Durham’s Partnership for Children are co-hosting Durham’s 3rd Annual Kindergarten Registration Week, March 25-31. You can help encourage early school enrollment and make entering kindergarten as smooth as possible for all families in Durham!
The transition to kindergarten is one of the most significant events in a young child’s life, as it sets the tone for his or her entire educational experience and lays the foundation for future success in school. Our goal for this week is to encourage early enrollment, and ultimately, we hope to increase the number of children registered and in school on the first day of kindergarten in 2017!
Volunteers will be deployed to businesses throughout Durham and will distribute registration packets to parents of young children. The packets will provide parents all the information and forms they need to ease the process of registering for school. Volunteers will receive orientation/training materials closer to Kindergarten Registration Week, as well as individual instructions for each location (where materials are stored, signage, etc.).
Please join us in the important work of helping children and families get ready for school!
