As part of our ongoing campaign to make Camp Trask even better, we're ready to install new bear boxes!
What's a bear box?
No, it's not a box full of bears, rather it's a large metal box that allows campers to lock away their food so that bears don't eat it. Handy!
So we have the bear boxes, the tools, and the materials - we just need to add some scout power to get it done.
This will be easy and fun work with lots of opportunities for scouts of different skill levels. And a great chance to earn some service hours.
If you are working toward your First Class or Star ranks, this project will fulfill your entire service project requirement - score.
We will be digging a rectangular area, framing it with wood, then mixing and pouring cement into the area. Once the cement sets, we'll finish the surface, and install the bear box. Mixing and pouring cement - 'nuff, said, dude.
Things to bring
Class B uniform, ten essentials, and work clothes (long pants, closed-toed shoes, and gloves). Again, cement will be involved, so bring clothes that you don't mind getting dirty.
Lunch will be served!
