Traffic and Use Assessment: Small Groups
The mission of Eastern Market Main Street (EMMS) is to capitalize on our historic assets and entrepreneurial culture to promote, retain, and attract diverse, small businesses through the Main Street Four-Point Approach: Organization, Promotion, Design, and Economic Vitality.
EMMS has begun a Traffic and Use Assessment to synthesize stakeholder input and traffic data, and provide strategic recommendations for effectively using public and private spaces on the corridor to foster business and market activity. You can find the initial RFP here. EMMS has engaged Symmetra Design, a consulting firm that develops innovative solutions to improve transportation systems and create better communities, for the project.
The EMMS corridor includes 7th Street from North Carolina Ave. SE to Pennsylvania Ave. SE, and C Street SE and Pennyslvania Ave. SE from 6th and 8th Streets, and the stakeholders for this project include business owners, landlords, community leaders, and residents from the area. EMMS and Symmetra Design are requesting input from stakeholders about issues and opportunities on the corridor in three ways:
- Small Group Sessions (March 13, 3pm-5pm, Mr. Henry's) - Constituents can sign up below to share their feedback in a small group format. Led by Symmetra Design, these 30-minute sessions will provide stakeholders the opportunity to engage with the consultant and EMMS in a more private setting.
- Public Meeting (March 20, 11am, Eastern Market North Hall) - Symmetra Design and EMMS will also host a public meeting to gather feedback from the community. Though this is open to the public, all issues and opportunities raised should be focused on business activity.
- Email - All stakeholders have the option to send their comments to EMMS by email at firstname.lastname@example.org. EMMS is also working to gather the feedback collected by EMCAC and ANC6b from the summer of 2017 regarding the closure of 7th Street SE.
Thank you, and we look forward to hearing from you in one of the formats above.
