Tikkun Olam weekend is going to be extraordinary this year. The weekend will kick off at Shabbat evening services on Friday, May 4 with an activity for everyone of every age to participate in during the oneg.
On Saturday, May 5 there is one group volunteering opportunity and on Sunday there are two:
- On Saturday, May 5: Greater Boston Food Bank: 1:00-3:30pm. There are spots for 50 people Minimum age is 16.
- On Sunday, May 6:Cradles to Crayons: 10am-12:00pm. There are spots for 45 people including 15 slots for children. Minimum age is 5.
- On Sunday, May 6 we will have a TBS team participate in The Walk for Hunger. Please follow this link to register for the walk. Our team name is TBS Walks for Hunger.
Anyone who would like to travel to Boston with us on the T can meet us at 7:30 on that Sunday morning at the Woodland station (1940 Washington Street in Newton). We’ll meet as a group at 8:30 at the Boston Common (Beacon Street and Charles Street) to take a picture (or 3!) that we can share with members of the TBS community (check in for the walk is from 8-9:30, so people can check in before or after we meet as a group). We hope that many congregants will choose to walk with us on May 6th for the 50th Project Bread Walk for Hunger, and that those who aren’t able to walk will consider making a donation. There is a small fee associated with registering to walk ($25 for an adult and $15 for teens ages 13-17), and registered participants will receive a t-shirt when they check in.
