San Luis Obispo Police Department

PEACE - Police Education & Community Engagement

At the San Luis Obispo Police Department, we know interactions with the public can sometimes be tense. But we also believe our officers and the general public can have excellent relations if we know more about each other. So we are launching a series of initiatives during which open dialogues will be held about police procedures and actions, community concerns and ways both sides can best interact with each other.

The department’s Police Education And Community Engagement (PEACE) program is a series of 2-hour discussions touching on topics such as police protocols for use of force, police body cameras and the complaint process. During the discussions, members of the public can interact with a panel of police professionals.
