Congregation Beth Israel

Mitzvah Day 2018

Join us for Mitzvah Day, an annual event at CBI that honors the spirit of both tikkun olam and tzedakah. We guarantee you will:

  • Work on a project that tangibly helps people.
  • Meet and connect with other members of CBI.
  • Get charged up for the day with delicious breakfast made by our Sisterhood chefs.
  • Get the opportunity to be seen in the ever-stylish and recognizable CBI bright blue Mitzvah Day shirt.

The morning will begin at CBI. If your project is off-campus, the location is noted below and participants will meet there after breakfast.

This is a congregation-wide event. It is also a religious school day with parent participation – no drop offs please. Though teachers will be assigned to various projects, we encourage you to sign up for the project(s) that works best for you and your family.

Projects are suitable for all ages unless otherwise noted. Also note that anyone in 5th grade and below must be accompanied by a parent or adult. One adult can be in charge of several kids.

NOTE: The Mitzvah House Closing project will continue after Mitzvah Day. If you can, please also sign up to help take down and clean up the winter homeless shelter on May 1, 2 and 3 in Blumauer Auditorium. Your information will be forwarded to the Portland Homeless Family Solutions volunteer coordinator.
