We provide hot breakfast and warm hospitality to the community on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 7:00 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. to those who are homeless and to the working poor. Most come directly from Allentown's overnight warming shelter. They receive a meal and have a warm place to stay before going to their workplace, or until county agencies and drop-in centers open at 9 a.m.
Volunteer Opportunities: On Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays we need ten volunteers to prepare and serve breakfast from 6:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. Please note: volunteers for serving breakfast must be at least 18 years of age.

Contributions: Your contributions are very important to our ministry. Your financial contributions enable us to purchase items in bulk at very low prices as well as to pay the cost of utilities and equipment maintenance. Click to contribute via PayPal or Credit Card or mail your check to Zion's UCC, 620 W. Hamilton Street, Allentown, PA 18101 and write "Jubilee" in the memo.
If you would like to donate specific items (for example: eggs, milk, sausage, ham, bacon, fresh fruit, napkins, sugar, coffee, sweet & low, etc.), please contact the church office (610-435-2412) for information about dropping off your contribution. Please note that the Allentown Health Bureau does not allow us to accept anything made in someone's kitchen at home (including baked goods).
Why Jubilee? This ministry to, with and for those who are homeless is taking place just a few feet from where the Liberty Bell was hidden in our church during the Revolutionary War. The well-known inscription on the bell ("Proclaim Liberty throughout all the land, unto all the inhabitants thereof") from Leviticus 25 proclaims the Jubilee year in which the scales of economic justice are balanced for all people. We pray for that day to come. In the meantime, we work as advocates for those who are in need. And we offer the most basic ministry that Jesus taught us to provide: food for the hungry, shelter for the homeless (Matthew 25).
